MS FX crashes to BSOD and then reports problems. It suggests that there was an incomplete installation and posts Error 1603 and 1722 when tring to uninstall/reinstall/repair from DVD etc. This problem is widely reported, what’s happening to resolve it?
cheers, Ron H

I purchased & received FSX on Oct 20, 2006. Installed the program & have experienced continual deactivation since that date. I have been working with Microsoft Technical Support every since the first deactivation only to finally today getting the following response.
Hi Ed,
This is XXXXXX from Microsoft Online Technical Support.
Thank you for writing back and for the update on the issue. I understand that you removed the AMD Dual core optimizer software from the computer and the game deactivated three times till then. I therefore find that the issue still persists and we have not been successful in resolving the issue.
Edward, I would recommend you to return the game and obtain a refund of the product. Please note that our product refund number is (888)-673-8624. There is currently no resolution to the issue you are experiencing with the game. If there is a fix for this issue in the future, I would definitely contact you through e-mail and you could purchase the game again with the refunded amount and I am sure you will be able to enjoy the game to the fullest.
I am looking forward to your response and thanks for using Microsoft Online Assisted Support.
Thank you for your understanding and patience!
Best regards,
XXXXXX

Wow, Ed, that’s the first I’ve heard of that. Let me see what I can find out.

Hi Ed,
I looked into this a bit to my limited ability. I suggest you escalate this with MS support, whatever it takes to do that. Don’t take no for an answer.

when i tired to install FSX for the first time it all looked good until near the end of finishing on the second disk when it showed a similar- error 1603 this was apparently ‘fatal’ and i also incurred an error 1935, ive searched all over the net for a similar problem and cure for it, no luck, could you suggest anything?
Comment by RichyNo1 — Tuesday, December 26th, 2006 @ 5:27 pm
Yup, I’ve heard of folks with that problem, and I don’t know if there is a resolution. Have you tried it multiple times? I’ve heard of instances where a second try worked. And here’s another anecdotal suggestion that may or may not work: start the installation, then cancel it before it gets to the error, then try again. If that doesn’t work, your best bet is to contact Microsoft Support directly.

I have recently aquired a copy of Flt Sim X deluxe and after getting it to load and trying to register it online (no phone registration available?) it throws up an error saying that it may need re-loading or contact MS customer support.
It then goes into the demo version.
I’ve tried re-loading, no good.
Checked online and that suggested the registry settings. They were correct. I disabled my anti-virus and firewall and tried again. No good. Customer services are at a loss and having seen this thread, i see why! Anybody else experienced this and did you solve it?
Comment by chrissims — Wednesday, December 27th, 2006 @ 11:22 am
Jon
Actually a question since MS cannot resolve the issue for me. Is there a conflict with the X version and the FS 2004 version both loaded on my computer. I had tweaked FS2004 and the graphics and add-ons were beautiful. I still fly 2004. I purchased X deluxe and the X vesrion:
sturrers, has low frame rate, hangs up, reboots etc. I have performed clean boots, and all the other suggestions MS had.
Do I have to uninstall FS2004 to get X to run properly? Is there a conflict with the graphics?
I have always used a “End it All” program to disable all the background junk when I fly and it has always worked-until the X version.
Help
Thanks

Ray, some folks say there is no conflict or interaction, but others report the same experience as you. Personally I’ve had no problem. So I can’t add much. Have you dropped by the forums at http://www.avsim.com ?
Comment by jonpatch — Friday, December 29th, 2006 @ 6:59 pm
Ray, here’s some more questions and suggestions:
- how much hard drive space do you have left? how much RAM do you have? What type and speed of CPU? What graphics card do you have? How much RAM does it have?
- if you know how to use regedit, check to see that the registry has the correct path to both executables

I bought FS X Deluxe and it will not install. Rather than go through all of the bull crap, I will get my money back. Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves. I have a brand new T60 Lenovo with all of the bells and whistles. It simply will not install. I was stupid enough to buy Gate’s book about business at the speed of thought. Back to the real cockpit. . .

I recently purchased and installed FSX on an AMD X2 based system (raid card and SLI graphics). I’ve had repeated deactivation problems and have explored the issue with the MS support people. After numerous attempts at clean booting the system using msconfig, I was left without resolution to the problem. They suggest returning the software for a refund.
The support tech suggests it’s a problem with the hardware hash used to generate the license. The tech thought it would help by dissabling everything but the Microsoft services. This didn’t resolve the issue.
Any thoughts?
thanks
Comment by Ian — Wednesday, January 17th, 2007 @ 10:31 am
Ian,
Word has it that there is a problem with Silicon Image RAID controllers, that is apparently fixed by a BIOS and driver update for the RAID controller. Without the update apparently the raid controller tells windows inconsistent information about hard drives which leads activation to think that the hardware keeps changing.
Let us know if that works.
Comment by jonpatch — Wednesday, January 17th, 2007 @ 6:03 pm
Thanks,
I’ll try updating the raid drivers and see if this little problem goes away!

HI Guys… I recently purchased FSX and installed it no with problem. My system is meeting all of the requirements to run the game, but the graphics are……not good. If i look at the aircraft from an outside view it looks wrecked, or like parts are missing. The runway disappears, reappears as does the ground, mountains, oceans, etc…..Have I just got a setting wrong or something opr is there a deeper problem??? Please Help! -Jason

I tried to install Flight Simulator X but it always comes up with Error 1603 relating to a file which needs to be replaced may be held in use. Then Error 1607 unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime. I already have FS 2004 installed but I am reluctant to uninstall this until I am OK with FSX, Can you advise?
Comment by MCooper — Saturday, January 27th, 2007 @ 5:44 am
@Jason: yup, that’s sounds like a bigger problem than FSX: may be thevideo card.
@David: I think that’s an obsolete product in that illustration! In any case, to reassign your buttons, from the startup screen, choose “SETTINGS”, then on the Settings screen on the right-hand-side, choose “Controls”, then at the top of the screen choose the “BUTTONS/KEYS” tab. Make sure the correct controller is shown in the “Controller type:” field. Scroll down the assignment list to find the function you want then click “New Assignment” and follow instructions.
@MCooper: Make sure you have .NET framework 2.0 runtime installed. (search MS downloads). Also the installation may be aborting because there are remnants left in the registry from previous failed installs. Use a registry cleanup program to fix this. Suggest posting on AVSIM.com if you have more problems.

I have just installed Vista followed by Flt sim X. My computer was built by myself and hosts a dual core intel 3G processor, 2 G Ram and SATA C Drive with a Raido configuration as the scratch drives. I have had no real problems with FltSIM X, It registered OK over the internet, but when I down loaded the “updates” yes I said updates It said I couldnt install them because FLT simx SDK was not installed. Have you any ideas?

hi there, i am experiencing similar problems to the guy in comment 8, fsx loads up great, but when it kicks in the screen flashes and no grpahics appear, we can narrow this down tho rather alot.
First of all, this is my setup:
Ati Radeon x1650 512mb
Abit Nv8 Motherboard Socket 756
2 Gig Corsair DDR 400mhz ram
64bit Athlon 3400+ Processor
M-Audio Firewire 410 Sound
2x HP 19″ widescreen running duel
Now. I recently purchased Windows vista, bearing in mind all this setup worked fine in xp.
So i installed the 32 bit windows vista first because i wasnt sure about drivers and what not. Fsx worked lovely, so i install the 64bit windows vista and the problems started, the problem lies with the driver software for the Ati card, i am stumped as i cant seem to get an answer from Ati, (must be to busy harhar !)
Any further help would be greatly appreciated as i have a 747 sitting in Honolulu that needs to be flown to Sydney !
Many Thanks
Tom

I am experiencing exactly the same problem as Chrissims - bought Flt Sim X deluxe, which loaded and ran fine but will not activate. When you try and activate it comes back with a screen saying
“A technical problem occurred while accessing the online activation server. Licence Authorisation was unsuccessful.”
It then offers three options:
1. Try again to activate on the Internet
2. Activate by telephone now
3. Activate later
When you try and activate again you go around in a circle. When you take option 2 (no telephone numbers are supplied BTW) it exits the program with a error message in a box entitled “Product Activation Error”. The message in the box is:
“An error occurred while attempting to activate the product. The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application. Reinstalling the application may resolve the problem. Otherwise, please contact product support for assistance.”
Don’t know what to do. Re-installed as suggested, but same thing.
For what it’s worth, FS2004 was installed already. PC spec is P3.2/2GB RAM, Raptor 10K HDD for WinXP SP2 and programs, 1TB on Silicon Raid plus 2TB of additional storage which is not used at all by any of the FS software so shouldn’t be a factor. Anyone have any ideas?
I can get money back I’m sure (bought it on Amazon) who are usually good at returns, but would much rather have a working copy!

ATI
To download ATI video cards, visit the following ATI Technologies Inc Web site:
http://www.ati.com (http://www.ati.com)
When you use the ATI Radeon X1800 CrossFire Edition video card, the screen may flicker or appear black.
This is exactly my problem, nothing i can do short of wait for better drivers, or buy a new graphics card, which i just did about a month ago :S, im considering having a separate hard drive with WIN XP and FSX installed so i can fly, thanks anyway

I had the same problem as Dave (comment # 30)
Searching internet revealed others had same problem but no solution. After much frustration, I found a task running under the task manger window - DLACTRLW.EXE.This file is the Sonic Drive Letter Access component (DLA).It is installed by Sonic CD and DVD burning software applications such as RecordNow. I disabled this on startup, re-booted and can now install OK!
Hope this helps out

I have flight six X and it ran great on my XP system. I upgraded to Vista figuring it would work even better. I reinstalled it on Vista and the graphics are horrble, the screen blinks and it is unplayable. I then updated my whole system and now have a 5.9 vista rating on my graphic card 5.1 CPU and 5.6 memory… this is about as high as you can get and still the game will not play on Vista! I though it was made with Vista in mind? Anybody get this game to work on Vista?
Comment by tommymsw — Monday, February 26th, 2007 @ 5:33 pm
I have the exact problem as nr 41. SO far what I did was deactivate DLA (auto recording on the DVD drive) and I uninstalled all burner programs and DVD player programs, except Nero. It seems to “see” the disk now, but still can’t get it to do anything. tried add program, no success, tried start>run>E:\autorun, no success.
I’m starting to think something about microsoft: NO SUCCESS!
I should have known better than to buy an MS program for a PC, even after 6 months after release!
I might stick to my apple that hasn’t crashed a single program since I got it 3 years ago! (well, actually, it did start to hang up once, but recovered by itself by quitting the program. You know what the program was? MICROSOFT MESSENGER!!!!! So that was the last MS program ever entering my Mac…)
For anyone that wonders why bill is so rich, and why MS is so rich, well, here you have it. Let people buy products that are not even finished (seems popular these days as they are not the only ones to do that) and charge people for teh smallest fart they make…

Heres one for you.I had FSX installed and running well until one night while flying in alaska I brought up the map to see where I was,I got a message when trying to zoom in saying “unable to find dlgalert.bmp” and the machine hung.so I turned off waited a bit and restarted ,and when i tried to start FSX it just brought up the first start up screen and i got the sane message. so I tried to uninstall the software thru control panel ect and it would not let me. As I had the software on a slave drive i decided to formatt it and then reload the game…guess what it would get about 3/4 of the way thru install shield and then I get a new message “error 1628 ” could not complete installation . any Ideas.

game installs fine. When i goto play it the splash screen comes up with a hour glass and thats it, nothing else happens, it hasnt frozen because i can use things in the background, the game just hangs. (in task manager fsx.exe is using 99 percent of cpu and 94mb of ram)
this is an ongoing problem, i had this the first time i installed it, i then formatted and started again and it then worked.. I had to reformat again because of another problem, installed the game and went to play to find this problem again!! I have a AMD 3800+ (single core) gigabyte am2 motherboard, asus nvidia 7600gt, 1gb corsair ddr2 800 ram, sata 500gb hard drive.. all with the latest drivers.

So I don’t have a better idea than that, except to say (as pointed out by Phil) that the end of April is pretty unlikely.

Comment by Ryan — Tuesday, April 17th, 2007 @ 12:15 am
FS2004 will run great on that. The results with FSX are very subjective, as it depends on the settings that you want to use, you might be very happy with that machine or not. I do recommend a video card with at least 512Mb of RAM, but 256Mb will be adequate for a certain level of performance.

I was using FSX deluxe on an old HP, using a GEforce 5200 video card with 100GB hard drive and 1GB Ram, settings were low, but I could run it fine, sucked because i like graphics and wanted to see all the neat stuff at airports. I was using window XP professional as the OS. Anyway I decided to upgrade to a HP 6600,AMD Duel 64×2 4800 ,ATI Radeon 1300X 512mb video card, with Vista premium 32 bit. Big mistake. Game will work fine until someone in multiplayer requests a chat or wants to add me to there friends list, or in free flight, I use tool bar on top of screen maybe to pick another plane, the screen will go black, and come back saying fatal error, vista is trying to resolve this issue please wait..microsoft FSX is restarting, and im like whats going on, if the box says windows vista OS as a system it will work on then why cant it?

Through the free support forums on ms support, I’m not paying £40 for them to fix the game that they sold me, I have found that to stop fsx crashing btwn screens ALT+Enter works a treat. Not sure if its radeon or vista but by switching to a window rather than full screen appears to be a temp, fix. Try this Bill
happy flying, cheers Jon

I have a system I built myself which I consider to be pretty darn good. It has an Asus a8n sli deluxe mb with a fx-60 cpu and 2gig of Corsair ram with a 250 gig sata drive and an 8800GTx video card. I figured I would be set for graphics and power for some time. I was right on every piece of software I own until I purchased FSX. It worked ok without the patch, but definately needed help. I have installed the patch, and noticed a decent upgrade in graphics. My only problem is that the darn thing crashes all the time. It crashes on the runway before a flight, or in the middle of a flight. Basiclly it crashes whenever and wherever I am in a flight. I have changed the setting to lower the graphics. and a few other things. Why should this be on a computer that is made to be graphiclly superior to many. I have had no issues with any other programming. No problems at all. Can someone tell me that Microsoft is working on this as I am sure there are a lot of people in the same boat as me. I have flown on this software since its first rendition and this is the first time I have been this dissappointed.

Hi,
I purchased microsoft flight sim x a few months ago but it seems no matter how many different ways i try to install it when it comes time to read the second disc it just won’t recognize it. I have returned FSX for a new copy and also atemnted an install on a second computer. The other computer was able to install FSX but being that it was rather old it was not capable of running it when the install was finished. This computer contains the following:
3.2ghz intel processor (64 bit)
2gig of ram
asus motherboard
geforce 6600 video card
Running Windows XP fully updated
benq dvd dd dw1620
all with the latest drivers.
I was able to download and run the demo as well as move the copy from the older computer to the new computer but that runs into registry issues. Microsoft Tech support has given me absolutly no help in this matter and its been 5 days and I’m still waiting for a reply from them.
Thanks
Alex

I apologize for forgetting specifics. The issue is after installing the first disc when switching to the second disc it is never found. I followed the tech response of uninstalling all Nero software and also restarted with minimal processes running. I also found that if I were to simply put the second disc in and open it things were fine, however if i attempted to install the game placed the second disc into the drive tried to accept the second disc, after it would come back not found if i tried to open the disc manually it would crash the computer.
Thanks again
Alex

Sounds like you might have a windows installer issue or your ASPI drivers need to be updated or installed. The ASPI driver allows CDDA32 and DAT2WAV the ability to talk to the CDROM/DAT drives. Updating this driver has really solved alot of CDROM problems that i’ve had. Make sure your windows installer is up to date also, sounds like a procedure call to the next disk is being lost somewhere.
I’ve seen a quite a few people complaining about FSX but I just got it a week ago and love it. I’m running a Intel Pentium D Core 2 Duo (3.4gig) with 2 gigs of PC6400 DDR2 and video is a VisionTek X1950 XGE AGP. I do have the problem with video flicker but I have to check to see if the SP is installed or not and still need to do some tweaking but as for now, I love it.

I just bought FSX last week and it loaded with no problems. It appears to be working normally for the exception of one airplane (MD-83) model not avail for selection. I checked the MD-83 directory and all the files seem to be there. I even copied the MD-83 model from my FS2004 game into the airplanes directory with no success. Have you heard of this before.

Comment by Kevin Morello — Saturday, June 30th, 2007 @ 2:48 am
Kevin, I’ve never noticed that before, but indeed it’s a no-show, likely because it’s intended for AI only. I see there is no panel folder, which is necessary for FSX to recognize a user-flyable aircraft. Plunk a 737 panel in there and it’ll appear. You’ll also have to provide a sound folder, but I don’t know how well it will fly.
I’m sure this must have been discussed on simflight.com or avsim.com, so you might want to drop by there.

Ive been having some trouble with this microsoft flight simulator.First after I installed it, it said i was missing the msxml 4 sp2, I tried downloading it but dont understand how to install it. I also just re did my windows xp so everything was cleared off my computer, then I downloaded and installed all the required windows updates, restarted my computer. When i went back on, i clicked on the simulator and it started to play. , Then I downloaded the patch fine. Went to the graphic setting ajjusted accordingly, everything was goin smooth. I pick my plane and airport, and right as I take off my whole computer Restarts. I dont know how to fix this problem, my graphic card is the ati 1300 512 mb and i have windows xp.

I tried to play fsx with crossfire enabled but I get a checkerboard at the top of the screen. with crossfire disabled it runs ok but I wanted the benefit of running two graphics cards. could you advise.
Thank you

Comment by Dennis Parker — Tuesday, July 10th, 2007 @ 9:27 am
Hi Dennis,
I’m not sure that you get much benefit in FSX with dual cards at this time, so if you’re doing fine with one, that may be ok.
Do post in http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=151

Every time I try to install MS Flight Simulator X, the process halts because of some missing Scenery/World/Texture 135aa34234iui … (you get the picture) file. My question is - how do I supply the system with a file that it is supposed to provide itself?

Been running FSX fine until today, i upgraded to Windows Vista a couple of days ago, and reinstalled FSX with all my addons, and it worked until today. Now upon booting I get a message saying something about it failedto activate successfully, and im getting the same errors as all the people above.ie, it suggests there was an incomplete installation and posts Error 1603 and 1722 when trying to uninstall/reinstall/repair from DVD etc
I had the SP1 installed too, plus al my addons. I seriously hope this doesnt mean it isnt going to work in Windows Vista for me, as i had spent loads on addons and even more upgrading my system for Vista + the cost of Vista itself. And after less than a week, i cannot play for more than 30 minutes. I doubt i can get a refund on my FSX as ive had it since release. Is the only way to run it to go back to XP? I thought FSX was designed to be run on Vista.
One other thought, it seems not all of us are having problems running FSX, so is there a common link between those of us that are?
could it be Duel Core Processors, or the specific motherboards or graphics cards? any ideas anyone?
Hope someone can get me up and flying again very soon

Lee, does your drive recognize other DVDs? In Windows Explorer, what do you see beside the drive letter? If nothing, you may want to take the disk back to the store you purchased it from ….

Hi,
I have been running fsx deluxe since it was released without trouble. In January I upgraded my PC to x64 dual processor but still ran it on XP and fsx was working great. In August I upgraded to Vista x64 - fsx installed OK and opens fast - but when I select a flight it is slow running up the scenery and when the flight starts - the minitor blikns in slow blinks, black periods are long/pic periods short 2sec/0.2sec - I have reinstalled many times tried all I could think of nothing doing. All this time fs2004 is running great. I uninstalled that too if that could be the cause but that didn’t help. What could I do?
Thanks very much in beforehand.

This post concerns the fix for invisible airplanes from within MS Flight Sim X.
I would sometimes see landing gear and a pilot, but no airplane structure. And, this would only happen to “certain,” but not all, airplanes. How weird. Turns out the problem is a driver related issue. Although I just bought my graphics card as a Xmas present, the CD it came packed with contained old, outdated drivers. The answer was to go to my graphics card website, and download and install their latest driver package. Problem solved!
Comment by Wayne — Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 @ 3:49 pm
Ok My FSX Regular Edition will not activate. If you ask me, I will never buy another game that makes me activate it. In Fact, I will never watch another commercial or listen to another review of a Game that makes me activate it. I’m so utterly dissapointed in the thought behind activating something I buy and not having it work. Im throwing my dam game out the window and hope it crack on the pavement below. Dear Game Producers you really know how to piss off a Gamer.

Hi, i bought Flight Simulator X awhile ago, but, it worked very well, for awhile, but my computer wasent very good, so i ditched it, and went on with life.
3.06 GHZ dual core processor
512 RAM
2X 74GB Hard drives
Nvdia 7300 GT
Later on, i discovered a new os called Windows XP black, which is like xp professional service pack 4 or something, im not sure. but anyways it ran extremily fast, and ran some of my other games at amazing rates, even when the quality was amped up, EX: NFS Most Wanted, And NFS, Carbon.
Anyways, i Ramble
I installed flight simulator x without a hitch, the installation worked great!
it was on my windows hard drive too.
ok than
i started out by going to free flight, it started up, i had the preformance amped, just like everything, yeah, it was a long loading time, but i was like whatever.
so, it gets into the game.
i am on the runway of halifax international airport on my way to JFK new york.
i just start going, everything is fine, and responding
i just get fast enough to rotate, and my front wheels are off the ground, and my computer crashes
im stunned
it reboots to bios (when you first start the computer) and, it starts up
someone said to disable automatic shutoff when a problem happens, i do.
I do it again, a blue screen flashes up just as i am about to rotate.
it sais something about visual drivers, i have the latest drivers from nvdia. it makes no sence?
Do you have any idea how to fix this?
i tried to include every single possible detail in my problem.
tks, if you find a way, or you could email me a solution at Jake_jones63@hotmail.com

Hi, i installed FSX some time ago, it all was very well(perfermance, loading time, graphics etc. was great). Later on (about 2 days later as far as i remember) it just stopped working! The blue window saying Microsoft Flight Simulator X appears and it’s not responding…
I didn’t change anything (well, i installed narbacular drop game, but uninstalled it after that… mmm… error (but there’s no error) happend to fsx).
After uninstalling narbacular drop fsx still didn’t work, so i went to ms support, there was smth about restarting the computer by using a clean startup procedure. I did it - same thing again fsx’s not responding.
I tried to (not sure how it’s called in english) repair system - it wasn’t much help also.
I have:
2.61 GHZ dual core AMD processor (5200+)
some kind of ASUS motherboard
2 GB RAM
250GB hard drive (16GB free)
Nvdia 8600 GT (512 MB) (169.21 version drivers if it matters)
Could you please help?

Nothing new at support line.
It all was about what i’ve already done - also they said i coud try creating new account (it also was on their web site) - it didn’t work.
Finally they said i might want to uninstall/install windows and install game again - that’s what i probably going to do if i find no other way to bring fsx back to life.

The AVSIM forums are a method of public discussion on issues related to flight simulation.
Go to http://forums.avsim.net/.
First, see if someone else has had the same problem: you can use the Search function (click on “Search” in the box that also has “Login” in it), then click on “Use advanced search form”. Enter some keywords, then click the “And” button, and further down, “Search now!”. Try a few different keyword combinations.
Then you can make your own post if you haven’t solved the issue. Go back to http://forums.avsim.net/ and click on “Please register” and provide the information requested. Then click on http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=197 to go to the hardware forum. The click “Post” and proceed from there to describe your issue.
For non-hardware issues, like multiplayer, go to http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=121 (the FSX forum) and post there.
Please be clear in describing your issue: describe your system, when the problem occurs, etc. Be civil, polite and respectful or your post may be deleted.
Good luck!

Then: 2nd time I try to: 1607:Unable to install InsatallShield Runtime. I’ve tried all that support stuff but its all about their first install unlike to me its my 2nd time. I’ll try avism and see what they say…
Thanks

I’ve been thru all the forums, called support, lot of babble, but no one seems to answer the simple question—how the hell do I activate this sim I paid for????? From activate online window, It says it can’t connect, click phone activate, and no phone window appears, just annoying error to reinstall, which I did 3 times. I got phone activation # from txt file, recorded services needs product ID—No phone activation window, no product ID to give—I tried running w/ process sys ini disabled, win ini disabled, load start items disabled, and all non micro services disable, firewall down, virus protection off—-still, nothing. Can’t run free flight, click menu and about for procuct ID—not there till activated. Support, like always, is clueless. Every thing works fine till 30 minute limit and my system is way over par. I have the activation key right in front of me—-who the hell can I give it to, to activate–sounds like a reasonable request—-but no one seems to have an answer, as I said earlier—–just babble !!!!!

Have you run the software licensing system reset tool?

Well, I ran tool, and did another install (4), and online activation window still won’t connect, and phone activation window is nowhere to be found, leaving me with no product ID to phone activate, and right back where I was—running 30 min flights, and staring at a product key that I can’t do anything with. How can I get product ID w/out phone activation window—there’s gotta be a way. Or who could I call w/product key, or what other way to online activate besides flight sim online activation wizard ?????
Comment by Van — Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 @ 11:09 pm
Mmmmm–An activation issue that is very widely spread, that can surely be narrowed down to the activation wizard, yet, no one has any ideas—not even a lucky guess—I find that odd !! This is a Microsoft Flight Sim Link, isn’t it ?? This issue shows up in hundreds of forums daily, and no one can tackle it——-Seems activation should be an important step in the procedure ! But, I must be wrong !
Comment by Van — Friday, March 7th, 2008 @ 11:45 pm
Hi Van,
Most folks solve their activation issues, but some I guess remain unsolved. I don’t know what to say about that, it’s a Microsoft issue.
I don’t know what you mean by “This is a Microsoft Flight Sim Link”. This site is purely simmers helping other simmers, nothing official.

Hi,
I recently bought a new Fujitsu laptop with windows vista (32-bit) and installed flight sim X deluxe, and then the new fsx acceleration. The game ran like a dream and everything was perfect for about 3 weeks until suddenly fsx froze in-flight. I closed it via task manager, and tried to boot up fsx again, only to find that it hung up during the startup. It’s been doing so for about a week now, and I’ve tried everything I know possible to fix it but can’t. Any ideas??
Thanks, Tristan

Recently I downloaded a(I forget what it wacalled) from Microsoft.Download took over an hour, if that helps identify it. Since then from the 2D cockpit, with the instrument panel totally removed, I am unable to get the unobstructed views to the sides and behind that were previously available before the download. Please send a remedy for this.
Thank you

Hello. I’d like to report a workaround for nVidia users that are experiencing incompatibility problems with FSX+SP2 or FSX Accel and the current Forceware (175.16) drivers:
Just disable Multiple Displays on the nVidia Control Panel. Select “Only use one display (Single)”, then you’ll be able to run FSX again.

Good Day - I’m having the game freeze thing, then “Program not responding” I have all the latest drivers (175.19) and have all the right hardware according to the FSX spec’s … I have done everything possible checked for heat, power, memory and hardware - no problems … Even Nvidia said “We don’t know if its a driver or OS(Vista)problem” Many have the same malfunction … and with the price of high end video cards today well you-know. What do you think. Bob

I realize that I needed to download GMAX from the SDK folder in FSX and I have FSX deluxe edition, and there is no SDK folder. PLEASE HELP!!!

I have just purchased MS FSX Deluxe Edition but havent yet installed it. Before I install it, I would like to know whether my PC specs are ok for the game. They are as follows:
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3500+
2.21 GHz
1.00 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 graphics card
Windows Vista SP2
Please could you write back as soon as possible
Thankyou

That’s quite a low-end system to run FSX, however many users can still be happy if they reduce settings. You would have to reduce them considerably to get a flyable experience.

I have been trying to run FSX under Vista 64bit with 2 monitors with no success. Worked fine on XP. Ive seen on some forum, cant remember which it was now (unfortunately) that it will not work under Vista 64bit. Now, im looking at buying the Matrox Triple Head digital edition, to try and get round this. Can anyone tell me whether this will work or whether im still not going to get it working?.
Thanks in advance

P.S I should mention the reason for the Triple head, is because I know want to run 3 widescreen monitors. for a huge cockpit.

What now, do I keep running FS 2004??? that works fine
Cheers Geoffrey
