Update on FSX SP1 and DX10

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Phil Taylor gives us a bit of an update on upcoming patches for FSX.  He confirms that SP1 (Service Pack 1) will be a separate release prior to the DX10 patch, and that SP1 coding is almost complete.

Interesting information here, this cleared up an assumption I had made in that FSX was DX10 ready. I am running with an NVidia 8800 GTX card and since replacing my old 6800 card had seen a considerable framerate improvement. Obviously just a better card, not the technology behind it. This assumption was based on the Vista Ready logo on the FSX case.
I look forward to even greater improvements when the DX10 patch is ready. With SP1 coming beforehand I may be suitably ‘gobsmacked’ by the combination performance increases.
