News from Microsoft on FSX

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

As announced on Simflight and the usual sites, MS has given us an indication of progress with FSX updates.  Here’s the highlights:

  • SP1 should be ready in April
  • SP1 is expected to go to beta very shortly
  • An expansion pack is planned for Fall release, on an Air Races theme: includes scenery, new models and missions (Adrenaline expansion pack)
  • First indication of DX10 support: fall of 2007 (Vista only of course)

Here’s the link to official announcement of Adrenaline.

    Good morning Jon,

Do you still believe we did not get snookered?

LOL. Depends on what you mean by “snookered”!
    Did we get misled? Yes.
    Was it malicious? No.
Can MS improve how they communicate, based on the FSX product cycle and release? Drastically.
Have they started to improve? Yes.
    Will that persist? Who knows!

    Good morning again Jon,

After reading Hal Bryan’s Blog: http://fsinsider.com/Community/News-Articles/sp1.htm
I think am beginning to understand the problem.
The Marketing people don’t know what is going on. The Technical people can’t write and the folks who are left have no sense of organized thought.
The consumer is left with a hodge-podge mumbo-jumbo to sort through.

Don’t you love it when you buy a game that’s DirectX10 capable -with Vista and the appropriate hardware of course yet have to wait almost a year for a software patch to give you excatly what you thought you were buying in the first place?

    Great job Microshaft!
