The best of both worlds

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

The word has been out for a long time, and seems well understood by consumers: if you don’t have a newer computer (preferably dual core), with lots of RAM (1.5Gb+) and a good video card (256Mb+), best to stick with FS9 until you can upgrade.  And lots of folks with specs that can run FSX ok still spend a lot of time in FS9 and appreciate the smooth performance and high frame rates.  At the request of a customer, for people that are running both FS9 and FSX who have purchased Vancouver+ for FSX, you can now purchase Vancouver+ for FS9 and receive a 20% discount.

Previously the discount only applied if you purchased the FS9 version first.  Thanks for the suggestion, Walt!

Jon this is not exactly related to your article however lately it has been on my mind to tell you and Holger that having installed NL2Kv3 which as you know is 1m pixel photo realistic scenery and having had Van+ and Vic+ as well as the famous FSAddOn sceneries it is my feeling that the work the NL2K team put in to create a realistic Netherland is not something I would recommend for scenery of our areas. By comparison the scenery Holger and you have created is as good for my money as the 1m pixel results and obviously far less complex to produce. Reading the comments about FSX and its scenery creation with the latest technology makes me believe that I will get greater benefit from your approach than with the Dutch team approach. This is not a criticism of the NL2Kv3 product it is great but is only effective for local VFR flying from my point of view. Regards John
