WOW – I waited to be told that the whole thing was a joke. I never watch the show because of the silly stuff that is boring and annoying. If they had this kind of talent regularly it would go on my must see list.

Indeed he went on to win the competition, get his teeth fixed, and put out an album. He’s touring our area next year. We’ll see what happens next.
Paul Potts has to be the youtube video of the year! At the time this hit the net I was blown away watching it. One of the things which makes it brilliant is that it’s edited really well for the show – a humble, self-concious guy turns into a star. The other thing that struck me is that shows like these always have an element where less talented people mercilessly get made fun of and this is sold as good TV. The Paul Potts story being so successful on youtube shows that most people prefer watching success stories rather than people being made fun of…

Indeed when I was made aware of this it didn’t occur to me to share it here. I agree that the shaming of many reality singing competitions is pointless and degrading. It’s not just Paul who shines here.
