Downtown building night lighting improvements

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Night lighting is not a strong feature of FSX: generic and library objects often have very different treatments for how windows are lit.  And when Vancouver+ V2 was released, many of the custom buildings had different treatments as well.  So I’ve worked to at least make the custom objects more consistent, and warmer in colour.  Here’s comparison shots of Vancouver downtown, first with no Vancouver+ showing MS default models, then how V2 looked, and then how V3 looks.  Eagle-eyed simmers will note many subtle shifts in building locations between V2 and V3; with the more accurate airphoto, every one of more than 3,000 buildings have been shifted to their more accurate location.

NOTE: The bright streetlights you see in all the shots are from Ultimate Terrain, the default sim is even dimmer.
